BILL HOWARD of the Birmingham 30 Motorcycle Club page

We have today started this page, & anyone who can supply or add info please contact Taff or Val WHILST THIS IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION,

Here we go:-VAL was the Instigator & Obtained a Collection of Trophies of Prizes Competitive performances on a Motorcycle & rather than allow such to go to 'The Scrapyard', we felt that with data plus pictures and texts or information from Individuals that more could be made of a Motorcyclist's achievements & memorabilia.

The chap we are covering was Born in DERBY 19 June 1914. Died 30 November 1992. Both his Parents came from Manchester.

He was Married & his wife's name was Dorothy, he had 5 Motorcycle Shops, in Birmingham Area, 3 in Coventry Road Birmingham 4th in Kitts Green Birmingham, and another which as yet we have not traced.

BILL HOWARD (Kitts Green Ltd can be seen in one of the photos) now passed o  and buried at Church Stretton,

His last Address was "High Lee", Sandford Avenue, Church Settle, Shropshire.

He became a Member of Birmingham 30 Motorcycle Club. & Had a TROPHY WHICH CARRIED HIS NAME. W. T. HOWARD TROPHY.

So let us assemble matter relating to WILLIAM THOMAS HOWARD, one is an award to his Late wife as well.

'Val the Gog' felt the items should be Stored & made available to a suitable Storage place and Hopefully after my wife, Janet's photography & Listing I shall be able shortly to TEXT in all the Dates & Data of each of the items, ... sadly in he box were a number of Trophy bases & Stands without the Trophy which stood upon it, nevertheless let us list what we can,  Many thanks for any contribution of info or pics.

Workshop Mngr. att Wells Road was the late George Holland & he sadly passed away at only 52, his son Robin Holland kindly contacted me from his Home in Southern Brittany

As a 12 yrs young lad he helped and worked on the bikes of the shop in Ketts Street.
His own first machine was a 125 BSA & he quickly became a mechanically great after spending his school hols working on motorcycles.
His mum was bookkeeper for Howards whose Factory was termed A.H.M.
He still recalls the No 58 Bus Turnaround place at the City Boundary and the Coventry Road limit.

By 16 he had a BSA C15 & became a determined Trials competitor as a friend also of Brian Martin whom we all recall as a leading & influentially involved rider in BSA's Comp Dept.

Robin was married 50 years ago this coming OCTOBER 2016  and Bill and Dorothy attended his wedding.  Many thanks & Congratulations in advance.
